Your camping gear isn`t just for outdoor adventure - keep your gear with you and use it as much as possible. It has unlimited uses in your daily life. Never go on a road trip without your outdoor pack. In all likelihood you`ll find an opportunity to use your camping - hiking - survival equipment close to home. It never fails - if you don`t have your camping gear with you you will need it.
Hiking Trails in Campgrounds - As you already know these two activities just seem to work. The major reason behind this is because hiking trails are typically found in campground and state park where people camp out at. The reverse is also true when it comes to them working out together. There are hiking trails in establishments often referred to as hiking parks. These hiking parks often have their own campground site. Experts in both hiking and camping will pair the two without thinking them both a part. This is a sign that both activities just go together like peanut butter and jelly which you can bring on the camping trip.
For cooking food you will need a small camp stove and something to ignite a fire. Generally you want to refrain from starting an open fire as it can be prohibited in many national and state forests. Be sure you have a cooking pot skillet utensils plates and a good knife. Of course some zip-lock bags are great for not only storing food but also rain proofing important items. For the food itself planning out each meal is key. Bringing items like cereal powdered milk granola for breakfast and heat and eat freeze dried meals for lunch and dinners. Remember that weight is an important consideration so bringing a lot of canned foods may tend to weigh you down. Of course you will need plenty of water and a refillable container that you can use along the way. Don`t forget the water purification tablets either again learned that the hard way as well.
Personally I have an external frame Jansport pack and I have a friend that owns a pack made by Stansport. I have not had any problems with the Jansport pack although I have read about some models that had shoulder strap problems. Stansport is a cheaper brand but the quality of their products seems good. There are many other manufacturers including Coleman. Too many to mention by name here. Conclusions Some people avoid camping and outdoor activities due to the expense of purchasing such gear. Fortunately there are a wide range of choices in different price ranges. In any case a good backpack will last many seasons and so if you buy the right one it is a nice investment in your own health. Backpacking and hiking are a great way to get into shape and enjoy God`s country.
